Fragmented Past-5
FRA-5.
History is composed of countless pasts, and the past is composed of countless moments woven together, each moment can be seen as a different fragment. What happens when we visualize these different pieces and put them together. This concept served as the base of inspiration for this series.
A lot of experimentation was done with different processes. In the end a special paper and ink was used to print edited photographs of old depictions of Arnhem, then these were torn into pieces to form a collage. The newly formed photo composition is transferred onto the ceramic surface and finally fired in a kiln at a low temperature, creating a unique trace of the images.
